Carmelo Anthony Talks Progress With Nets, Says Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving Are 'Family'
Carmelo Anthony has opened up about Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.
To this day, Anthony remains one of the most controversial free agents in the NBA. Ever since he parted ways with the Houston Rockets, Anthony has been linked to multiple issues.
According to The Athletic, the newest dynamic duo of the Brooklyn Nets, Durant and Irving, has been recruiting Anthony to join them. In fact, Anthony reportedly already worked out with the team a few weeks ago.
Just recently, TMZ Sports managed to have a quick interview with the 10-time All Star. In the brief talk, Anthony addressed Durant, Irving and his current stand with the Nets. According to Anthony, he is feeling better now than before. He also mentioned that his family is “good” where they are at right now.
“I’m good, and my family good, that’s all that matters you know? I feel better than I ever felt,” Anthony said.
And of course, the reporter took the opportunity to ask about Anthony’s free agency updates. He explained that his relationship with Durant and Irving is “bigger than basketball.” Although it is a bit early to jump to any conclusions, Anthony’s statement strongly suggested that his deep relationship with the Nets stars at this stage of his career could really help him end up in Brooklyn as well.
“That’s family, that’s bigger than basketball. (if) Something happens, something’s gonna happen, everybody would know when something happens,” Anthony shared.
A few days ago, New York Knicks legend Charles Oakley also spoke to TMZ about Anthony and the Knicks. According to Oakley, Anthony should have never left New York. Oakley believes that there was a great chance that Anthony could have gotten another contract with the team if he had stayed for a little longer.
"Carmelo should've never left New York. I think if he'd have stayed in New York, he probably would've gotten a new contract and maybe the Knicks would've made the playoffs the last couple years," Oakley told TMZ Sports
A month ago, Anthony has stated that he is still highly capable of playing NBA-level of basketball. He even said that what is happening to him right now isn’t about basketball anymore but more about him accepting “certain roles” on teams.
"I know I can still play. My peers know I can still play. I don't think it's about basketball anymore. I think it's about me as a person willing to accept certain roles on basketball teams. Am I willing to accept a certain role on a basketball team? Yes," Anthony pointed.
