Carrie Underwood Reminisces About Her ‘American Idol’ Stint 12 Years After Her Big Win
Carrie Underwood recently reminisced about her big win in “American Idol” 12 years ago.
On her Instagram account, the 34-year-old singer shared a collage of photos from the day she won “American Idol” Season 4. Underwood admitted that it’s been 12 years since her big win, but she is still unsure how it all happened for her. Since joining the hit FOX reality TV competition, Underwood has released multiple songs and albums and has won several awards, including seven Grammy Awards and 11 Country Music Awards, according to People.

Just recently, Underwood also reunited with “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena where the 54-year-old singer headlined “The Total Package Tour” for Boyz II Men and New Kids on the Block. Abdul was one of the judges on “American Idol” at the time of Underwood’s win. The former also typically praised the latter for her singing chops.
Underwood auditioned for “American Idol” Season 4 in St. Louis, Missouri, where she performed her own rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s hit song, “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Judges Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson were all shocked to hear the singer’s powerful voice, especially since she was very petite. In May 2005, Underwood brought home a Ford Mustang convertible as part of her big win after winning over the hearts of the audiences. Bo Bice placed second in the same season.
Meanwhile, “American Idol” will return to television starting next year. ABC has earned the rights to release new episodes of the reboot. As of late, the judges panel is still being finalized, but “I Kissed A Girl” singer Katy Perry has already announced her involvement in the reality TV show via Twitter.
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey released a statement (via People) expressing their excitement over Perry’s casting. “We are thrilled to be ushering in this new era of ‘American Idol’ with Katy leading the charge. Her incredible accolades speak for themselves. We are so lucky to have this strong and talented woman help inspire and guide the next crop of artists as they pursue their dreams,” the statement read.
