“The Catch” premiered Thursday night and introduced Shondaland viewers to beautiful private investigator Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos). Alice had everything going for her ­ — a successful career and amazing fiancé — until her world came crumbling down. Her fiancé, Christopher (Peter Krause), turned out to be a con man and took her for everything she’s worth. But Alice is not one of those women who will sit back and cry about what she’s lost.

The game is on in episode 2, and Alice is determined to track her former lover down. But how do you find someone who never truly existed? Alice is going to have to do her research and learn more about the “real” Christopher, whose name is actually Benjamin Jones.

The synopsis for episode 2, titled “The Real Killer,” teases that Alice will be trying to figure out Ben’s next move. However, that won’t be the only case on her hands. Her team will also take on a “very public client” who was wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his wife. But will Alice be able to handle two emotional cases?

Elsewhere, Ben will have issues besides having Alice hot on his trail. His ex-fiancé and her team were able to steal back all the money that Ben had hacked from their system, and that means that Ben’s boss, Margot (Sonya Walger), needs some cash —and fast. Although “The Catch” viewers don’t know who Ben, Margot and Reggie (Alimi Ballard) are working for, their mysterious benefactor wants money immediately. Fortunately, they have a “new target.”
