Cathriona White Death: Jim Carrey Expected To Attend Ex-Girlfriend’s Funeral In Ireland On Saturday

Jim Carrey is reportedly expected to fly to Ireland this weekend to be with his ex-girlfriend Cathronia White's family as they say their final goodbyes. The family will hold a funeral service for the 30-year-old Los Angeles-based makeup artist in Tipperary, Ireland, on Saturday.

According to People, White's uncle left a note posted outside his undertaking business with the details. Following the funeral, the family will bury White in a local ceremony next to her father, Pat, who died in 2012 from brain cancer.

A source told People (via the Daily Mail) Sunday that Carrey, 53, has plans to travel to Ireland because "attending her funeral will be the least he could do to pay tribute to the woman he loved."

As previously reported, White's body was discovered in her Los Angeles apartment on Sept. 28, just a few days after the third anniversary of her father's death. She had also recently split from Carrey after dating the actor on and off for three years. Carrey and their breakup were reportedly mentioned in a suicide note White left behind.

An autopsy has already been performed but the official cause of death won't be revealed until the toxicology results are released. It's believed, however, that White died from a suspected suicide. Police told several media outlets that four bottles of pills were found near White's body. Some of the bottles were addressed to Carrey under an alias he used.

Shortly after news broke of White's death, the "Dumb and Dumber To" star released a public statement saying he was saddened by her passing. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled," Carrey said. "My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.”

According to TMZ, White's apparent suicide may have been sparked by a nasty letter her biological mom, Brigid Sweetman, sent her on her 30th birthday calling the makeup artist a "failure." It’s not clear why Sweetman sent the letter but the site reported the harsh note, White’s breakup with Carrey and the anniversary of her father’s death are all being looked at as contributing factors in the apparent suicide.
