CBS’ ‘The Neighborhood’ Series Premiere: Here’s How You Know The Cast
CBS has a couple new sitcoms this fall, and it’s kicking things off with the premiere of “The Neighborhood” Monday night at 8 p.m. EDT. The series, which stars a bunch of sitcom alums, focuses on the neighbor dynamics between an over-eager white guy, who just moved his family from the Midwest to a predominantly black Los Angeles neighborhood, and the not-immediately-welcoming patriarch of the family next door.
Before you catch the series premiere of CBS’ “The Neighborhood,” get to know the cast a bit.
Max Greenfield (Dave Johnson)
Just a few months ago, the 38-year-old actor wrapped up his role as a fan-favorite character, Schmidt, on Fox’s “New Girl” for eight seasons. Viewers will also likely recognize him from his time on other popular shows, like “Veronica Mars,” where he played Deputy Leo, “Greek” and “Ugly Betty.”
Cedric the Entertainer (Calvin Butler)
Before starring with Ice Cube in the 2002 flick “Barbershop” and its sequels, Cedric the Entertainer had been making a name for himself on “The Steve Harvey Show,” which ran from 1996 to 2002. Since then, he’s been in countless movies and shows, including “Johnson Family Vacation,” “Be Cool,” “The Honeymooners,” “The Proud Family” and “The Soul Man.” Earlier this year, he was on TBS’ “The Last O.G.” with Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.
Beth Behrs (Gemma Johnson)
Behrs joins this new CBS comedy fresh off her run as Caroline Channing on the network’s long-running “2 Broke Girls,” which ended just last year after six seasons. Now, she’s set to work with an all-new cast, but this isn’t her first time working with Greenfield. The two were both in 2015’s “Hello, My Name Is Doris” with Sally Field.
Tichina Arnold (Tina Butler)
The 49-year-old actress is no stranger to the world of TV sitcoms. From 1992 to 1997, she starred on the Fox comedy, “Martin,” as Pamela James and then later played a lead on the UPN/CW series, “Everybody Hates Chris.” Most recently, she could be seen as Cassie Calloway on Starz’s “Survivor’s Remorse” and as Mo Evans on VH1’s one-season series, “Daytime Divas.”
Sheaun McKinney (Malcolm Butler)
The projects that McKinney’s most well-known for happen to be his half-hour comedies. Starting in 2016, he was on “Vice Principals” on HBO, and then following this role, he moved over to NBC’s “Great News.”
Marcel Spears (Marty Butler)
Following the cancelation of his ABC series “The Mayor,” with Brandon Micheal Hall and Lea Michele, Spears landed this new sitcom gig.
Hank Greenspan (Grover Johnson)
This is only the actor’s second onscreen role, with his first being in Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” as Young Justin earlier this year.
“The Neighborhood” Season 1 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
