Celine Dion Still Grieving Over Husband’s Death, Thinks Finding New Love Is ‘Too Soon’
It’s been over a year since Celine Dion’s husband René Angélil succumbed to cancer. However, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer thinks that it is still too soon to find a new love.
Dion was asked about finding new love in her first U.K. interview after almost seven years, but she revelead that she’s not ready to return to the dating world yet. According to her, it is “too soon” to even think about it, The Sun reported.
“Now it is definitely too soon for me. I am definitely in love with him, married to him,” the “Power of Love” singer said. “He’s the love of my life. It’s very difficult for me to see myself with another person.”
Dion further explained that she is still grieving over the death of her husband. She still loves him and is living with that feeling every day. For her, women have emotions that come and go, but hers will always belong to her late husband. She sings with him and hugs their kids for him.
The Canadian singer believes that she will be grieving all her life and will not ever get over the only man she ever kissed. Angélil was not only a husband to Dion, he was her manager and mentor before they realized that they felt something special for each other.
According to Mirror, the couple first met when Dion was only 12 years old. However, it took seven years before she became his girlfriend. Angélil was 26 years her senior and had gone two divorces so her mom was not supportive of their relationship. However, the singer did not mind her mother’s opposition and married Angélil in 1994.
Last month, the singer admitted that making choices without her spouse was more challenging. In fact, when Disney asked her to sing the new adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson, she was hesitant. “My first ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ the decision was made with my husband. Now I’m making decisions on my own. It’s a little bit harder,” Dion told Entertainment Weekly.
