‘The Challenge: Invasion’ Spoilers: 6 Things We Know About The 2017 Winners, CT’s Return And More
They’re back! Everyone favorite competitors are returning for another installment of MTV’s “The Challenge” on Tuesday. Before Season 29 kicks off, here’s six things you need to know about “The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions.”
What’s The Plot Twist?
MTV is pulling the rug out from under its “Challenge” rookies this season. This year’s invasion twist will have the Underdogs, meaning those who have never won a challenge, compete against one another before putting them head-to-head against some of the series’ reigning Champions.
Where Does It Take Place?
“Challenge” stars are used to living in the lap of luxury when they’re not competing, but things are very different thing time around. After arriving in Thailand, host TJ Lavin tells the underdogs they will be living in an outdoor camp “The Shelter,” which leaves much to be desired. There is a way out, however. The top 12 Underdogs who earn their right to stay in the game will move into “The Oasis.”
When Do The Champions Arrive?
This season will feature some fan favorite champs, but don’t expect to see them to compete against the Underdogs right away. While the two-hour season premiere will show fans what the Champions have been up to, the Underdogs will not learn about their participation until they arrive at The Oasis. With only 12 out of 18 Underdogs headed to the luxury digs, expect quite a few episodes to go by before the champs arrive.
Which Vets Are Returning?
MTV hasn’t kept it a secret which veterans will be coming back for another installment. As MTV’s trailer above shows, Johnny Bananas will make a comeback, despite his controversial win last season. Cara Maria, who ended her winning season on “Bloodlines” with a cheating scandal, will also return. And after a three-year hiatus, the show will see the comeback of Chris “CT” Tamburello. Watch a sneak peek below.
What Does The Winner Get?
While $275,000 was on the line for the first-place winner alone last season on “Rivals III” that same amount isn’t up for the taking this time around. MTV has revealed there is $350,000 on the line for this year’s contestants.
Who Wins?
While MTV (unsurprisingly) isn’t dishing on who won “The Challenge: Invasion” just yet, they have teased the final ahead, saying, “Not everyone will make it to the end, but for those who do; they will fight to win in the very first three-day final challenge to see who is truly worthy of being called a Champion.”
“The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions” premieres Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 9 p.m. EST on MTV. Meet the full cast HERE.
