Murphy was best known for his appearance on the “Chappelle Show.” Arguably, the most well-known skit was the one where he talked about partying with Prince and getting slapped by Rick James.
According to his page on the Internet Movie Database, he was best known for appearing in films like “Night at the Museum,” “Norbit” and “Black Jesus.” He helped write some of Eddie’s films, too.
Murphy tweeted hours before his untimely death. He wrote: “Rise & Grind: ‘Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.’ - Abraham Lincoln.” The quote is misattributed to the 16th president of the United States.
At the time this article was written, Eddie Murphy did not immediately issue a statement.
“Just came out of meditation and learned that one of my friends and my biggest comedy idol passed,” music producer Russell Simmons tweeted. “Damn I loved Charlie Murphy.”
This is a developing story.
