Charlie Puth Advices Aspiring Actor Who Got Rejected From Juilliard [Watch]
Charlie Puth responded to an aspiring actor named Axel on TikTok after he disclosed a rejection letter from Juilliard, the prestigious performing arts school in New York City.
Many TikTok users supported the aspiring actor in the comments section but Puth decided to make a separate video message apart from replying in the comments.
"Hello Axel, I replied to your video, but I figured I would do a video message as well," Puth said in the video shared on Tuesday. "Not only did I not get into Juilliard, but I didn't get into five of these prestigious schools that I wanted to get into that I thought could better my career."
The 30-year-old singer's TikTok clip was shared by a Twitter user.
Puth further explained how the school is great but it is not the thing to define his career as an action.
"And while I do think school is great — and I did end up going to Berklee [College of Music] — a prestigious conservatory for the arts is not going to be the thing that defines your career as an actor," he explained.
The "Nine Track Mind" star also noted that everyone faces rejection on daily basis. Although he admitted that the reality at that time is hard to swallow, eventually rejection helps you to grow creatively.
"We experience rejection every day of our lives," he said. "And as hard as it is to swallow in the moment, it's the thing that pushes you further creatively. It pushes my music; it's going to push your acting as well."
Puth concluded the video by saying that he enjoys Axel's videos a lot. "So, you Axel, you do not need to worry at all," the 30-year-old said. "I like your videos a lot, there's something very special about you."
Fans in the comments section praised the singer for being supportive of an aspiring actor.
Puth made headlines over the weekend when record producer Benny Blanco tried to take him down for making videos on TikTok. In response, singer Billie Eilish made a video and said, "What do you do all day Ben? The same thing..."
On the work front, Puth dropped a music video "Girlfriend" in July 2020.
