‘Charmed’ Alum Shannen Doherty Announces She’s In Remission After 2-Year Battle With Breast Cancer
Shannen Doherty recently announced to her 900,000 followers on Instagram that she is finally in remission from her beast cancer.
On Friday, the actress posted a photo of herself sitting on the floor, with her back against the wall. She’s wearing an all-black ensemble, which she complemented with gray and pink shoes. Doherty’s head is bowed down so her face cannot be seen in the snap, but it is evident that the “Charmed” alum is already growing back her beautiful black locks.

Doherty wrote a lengthy caption alongside her picture where she talked about the importance of moments. She also said that she heard the word remission from her doctors that day and had no idea how she was supposed to react. But despite the overwhelming feeling that she is already cancer-free, Doherty said that she is also aware of the fact that the next five years will be very crucial for her.
On top of the possibility of her cancer coming back, the actress is also gearing up to make some big life-altering decisions. She is taking reconstruction into consideration, which means that she could undergo several surgeries. She is also thinking about taking certain types of medication for the next five years, but is wary of their possible side effects. While she’s still taking everything into account, Doherty said that she just intends to focus on the fact that she is on remission and will just breathe through it.
According to People, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. While speaking with the publication, the actress detailed what it’s like to suffer from the illness. “Yes, I have breast cancer, and I am currently undergoing treatment. I continue to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life. I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me,” she said.
Doherty announced her diagnosis after she filed a lawsuit against her former business manager for allegedly failing to pay her insurance premiums. TMZ obtained a copy of the legal documents that stated Doherty’s claims that she discovered she had invasive breast cancer and was informed by her doctors that it has already spread at the time when she wasn’t insured. Doherty added in the legal documents that she was told by her doctors that if she had been insured, she could have received proper treatment and the cancer could have been prevented.
However, a representative for Tanner Mainstain, Doherty’s business manager, denied the allegations. “Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery. However, the claim that Tanner Mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care, or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false. Tanner Mainstain will aggressively defend all of Ms. Doherty’s claims in court,” read the statement.
Less than a year later, Doherty landed a settlement in the $15 million lawsuit she filed against her former manager, and she has received the best care for her illness since then.
