Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and current Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is engaged to Marc Mezvinsky, the couple confirmed on Friday.

The couple became engaged on Thanksgiving in New York, Clinton spokesman told ABC.

We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea and Marc said in an e-mail to friends and family, People Magazine reported.

Clinton, 29 and Mezvinsky, 31 became friends as teenagers and then attended together Stanford University, ABC News reported. Mezvinsky is the son of former Rep. Ed Mezvinsky and former Rep Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky.
