‘Chicago Med’ Spoilers: Ethan, April Clash; Will Woos Owen In Episode 8

When “Chicago Med” returns with episode 8 this week, Ethan’s (Brian Tee) estranged sister will pay him a visit. Due to their not-so-good relationship, Ethan will be reluctant to reconnect. However, April (Yaya DaCosta) will try to get in the way, being the family-oriented person that she is.

The complicated relationship between the ER resident and the nurse will once again be tested. So far, the NBC series has shown Brian and April’s ups and downs in terms of keeping a relationship in the workplace. This week’s episode 8 will be no different, according to co-showrunner Diane Frolov.

“They will continue to have some clash, because there's a difference in them, in power structure,” Frolov told TV Guide recently. The fact that one outranks the other at the hospital will remain to take a toll on the lovers’ relationship. Things will also turn for the worse when someone from the past shows up.

In “Chicago Med” Season 3, episode 8, Ethan’s sister, Emily, will visit the town, opening up some of the ER doctor’s old wounds. Last November, TV Line revealed that “Teen Wolf” star Arden Cho has been cast as Emily for the new season of the medical drama. At the time, it was revealed that Ethan’s sister is a semi-professional gambler who likes to cozy up with rich men.

Because Ethan and Emily didn’t get along in the past, the former will be reluctant to welcome the latter into his life again. But April won’t let this happen. She will want to get involved in Ethan’s strained relationship with a family member. “April wants him to be more involved with his sister. And because of Ethan’s past history with his sister … he’s reluctant,” ch-showrunner Andrew Schneider said.

Elsewhere, Will (Nick Gehlfuss) will try to form a bond with Natalie’s (Torrey DeVitto) son. The synopsis for the all-new episode 8 apparently says Will is going to be on a mission to get his girlfriend’s son to like him. Previously, DeVitto confirmed that Natalie’s son, Owen, is coming back this season. It seems the all-new episode will cover it.

Speaking of a returning character, Reese (Rachel DiPillo) is returning to the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center after her brief suspension. Interestingly, she’ll be tested right away when she returns under Dr. Charles’ (Oliver Platt) wing. It’s not known yet if Reese will get into more trouble in episode 8, titled “Lemons and Lemonade.”
