Chicken Recall 2019: Tyson Fritters Recalled For Plastic Contamination
Following its March 21 recall for chicken strips contaminated with metal, Tyson Foods, Inc. (TSN) has recalled 190,757 pounds of chicken fritter products because they may be contaminated with hard plastic.
The recalled chicken was produced on Feb. 28, 2019, and includes 32.81-pound cases that contain four 8.2-pound bags of Fully Cooked, Whole Grain Golden Crispy Chicken Chunk Fritters – CN. The chicken fritters have a case code of 0599NHL02 and bear the establishment number of P-1325 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The contaminated chicken fritters were distributed to institutional foodservice locations, including schools, nationwide. They were not packaged for retail sale.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is urging food service locations to check their freezers for the contaminated chicken. The chicken fritters should not be served or consumed. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

There have been no reports of adverse reactions from the consumption of the recalled chicken. Consumers concerned about injury or illness from the affected chicken should see their healthcare provider.
The FSIS was notified of the issue on June 5, 2019, after Tyson received three consumer complaints.
Shares of Tyson stock were up 0.47 percent as of 9:35 a.m. ET on Monday.
