A warning has been issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for chicken soup that has both wheat and soy allergens that were not declared on the label.

The chicken soup warning comes just days after a cut fruit recall was issued by Tailor Cut Produce for Salmonella concerns and following a recall by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for the soup. The affected chicken soup was produced by Canyon Creek Soup Co. Ltd and distributed at H-E-B retail stores in Texas.

The soup was sold in 16-ounce plastic containers and labeled as H-E-B Meal Simple Butter Chicken Soup. It has a UPC code of 0 41220 79872 8 and a best by date of 2020 JAN 21. The was produced on Jan. 21, 2019, and has the Canadian establishment number of #422 inside the Canada mark inspection.

The FSIS is urging consumers to check their refrigerators for the affected soup. It should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers with questions can contact the Canyon Creek Soup Company hotline at 1-888-217-1246.

The CFIA notified the FSIS after receiving customer complaints about the soup. There have been no confirmed cases of adverse reactions from the affected chicken soup. Those who are concerned about illness from consuming the soup should contact their healthcare provider.
