Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recall 2019: Possible Peanut Allergen Forces Recall
After a July 25 recall by Home Market Foods, Inc. for meatballs that possibly contained wheat and milk allergens that were not listed on the label, JuJu Bakes, LLC, dba The Cookie Dough Café, has issued a recall of 15 cases of Chocolate Chip Chilled Gourmet Edible Cookie Dough Bars because they may contain peanuts. People with a peanut allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts could run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction to consuming the cookie dough.
The recalled cookie dough was sold in 1.6-ounce, white and turquoise packages with a lot number of 19177 and an expiration date of 01/22/20. The affected cookie dough has a UPC code of 850967006531. The cookie dough was distributed in Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and West Virginia through Lipari Foods at select retail locations.

JuJu Bakes said no other lots or expirations dates are affected by the recall. The company has also not received any reports of illness related to the affected cookie dough.

The company was notified of the peanut allergen issue when an employee tasted peanut butter in a bar labeled as chocolate chip. The employee did not have a peanut allergy and did not have a reaction to the allergen.
JuJu Bakes said the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging processes.
