Chris Evans, Selena Gomez Dating? Why Twitter Thinks They're The New 'Power Couple'

Are Chris Evans and Selena Gomez dating? Some fans think so.

Social media users started speculating that Evans, 40, and Gomez, 29, might be dating after some fans claimed the two stars were spotted leaving the same studio in Los Angeles on Oct. 1. A few days later, the actor and the singer were photographed at the same restaurant in the city, according to some social media sleuths.

The pair didn't pose for a photo together, but the background locations in the pictures matched, Us Weekly noted.

"Chris Evans and Selena Gomez were spotted leaving the same restaurant," one Twitter user claimed. "The two superstars started following each other recently on IG too."

However, the paparazzi photos of Gomez and Evans that fans claimed were taken recently were actually old photos taken of them on completely different dates and places, according to Elle.

One of the pictures was of the singer leaving a studio in October 2019, while the other was of her leaving pilates in November 2017. Meanwhile, the pictures of the "Avengers" actor were taken during summer 2020, when he was with then-rumored flame Lily James in London, and October 2013.

The outlet also noted that while Evans is following Gomez on Instagram, she has not followed him back. The two have never been photographed together nor are they working on any announced projects together, according to their IMDB pages.

Some fans had already spotted that the photos were not actually taken recently. "That's an old pic of Chris. It's from last year in London. Bulls--t!" one commented. "It’s false. The Selena pic is from many years ago," another added.

Despite this, many of Evans and Gomez's fans still expressed on social media that they would approve of this couple if they actually started dating.

"They look cute together. Hope this is true," one Twitter user commented.

"Bro, I am not made about this rumor. Selena Gomez and Chris Evans are such a power couple," another tweeted.

"I hope this rumor comes true," a third user wrote.

In a 2015 interview on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live," Gomez admitted to having a crush on the "Gifted" actor.

"I kind of have a crush on Chris Evans. Isn't he cute?" Gomez told host Andy Cohen, according to E! News. "He's very cute."

Fellow guest Willie Geist also asked the "Good for You" singer at the time if she had ever mentioned her crush in an interview, and she confessed that it was the first time she had publicized her feelings for Evans.

"That's in the universe," Geist joked, to which Gomez replied, "Oh, man. He's either going to hate me or love [me]."

Cohen assured Gomez that Evans would love her, with Geist chiming in, "I think he'll be OK with it."
