Chris Pratt Announces Release Date Of 'The Tomorrow War:' I'm So Proud

Chris Pratt-starring science-fiction feature movie, "The Tomorrow War" is slated to release on July 2 on Amazon Prime Video.
Previously, the movie was supposed to be released via Paramount but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will debut on the streaming platform.
The 41-year-old actor took to Instagram Wednesday to announce the release date of the sci-fi. "#TheTomorrowWar officially being released on Amazon, July 2nd. I’m so proud of this film!! My baby is all grown up!!" he captioned.
"This was the first feature film I ever executive produced. And honestly, it’s just so fantastic," he added. "I honestly can’t believe how good it is (humbly-we crushed it). It’s emotional, action-packed, funny, scary, moves well and leaves you floored!"
"It’s just really, really good! It’s testing through the roof!!! For real. You can’t fake that stuff. Every day people watched this movie and gave it an A+!! This movie honestly has it all. Don’t take my word for it," he concluded. "See for yourself July 2nd. Thanks, Amazon for being an amazing partner. Gonna blow you away with this one!!!"
"The Tomorrow War," penned by Zach Dean revolves around a group of time travelers who arrive from the year 2051 with a message of mankind losing war against a deadly alien species thirty years from now. The only way humans can survive the global war is if the soldiers and civilians are time travel to the future to fight the alien species.
Pratt portrayed a family man and a school teacher, Dan Forester, who wants to save his daughter in the future. In the movie, Pratt will be joined by Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski, who portrayed a scientist and his own estranged father's role is played by J K Simmons. The movie is helmed by director Chris McKay, who also directed "The Lego Batman Movie" in 2017.
This is not the first time when a movie's release has been switched from Paramount Pictures to Amazon Prime Video.
Last October, Paramount sold "Coming 2 America" for about $125 million to Amazon. Paramount also sold "The Trial of the Chicago 7" to Netflix in June 2020. The movie became an instant success and grabbed five Oscar nominations including Best picture.
Pratt's upcoming projects include "Jurassic World: Dominion" and "Thor: Love and Thunder," which are set to release in 2022.
