“Jurassic World: Dominion” star Chris Pratt has received criticism on social media over his “insensitive” post about voting.

The actor recently uploaded the poster of his latest animation movie, “Onward,” on Instagram and encouraged people to vote. However, instead of asking his followers to participate in the upcoming election, he joked that they should vote for his movie at the People’s Choice Awards.

“With all that’s going on in the world, it is more important than ever that you vote. Just ask any celebrity. They will tell you. Every day. Several times a day. To vote. But for me? I will tell you EXACTLY who to vote for. #onward,” Pratt wrote on Instagram.

“The upcoming 2020 People’s Choice Awards is the most consequential vote in the history of mankind times a million infinity. Vote for #Onward for the family movie of the year. Click the link in my bio. Let your voice be heard,” he continued.

The post went viral on social media, and netizens had a lot to say about the “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” star's joke.

One netizen commented that Pratt’s joke comes off as really “insensitive,” saying that the upcoming election is important for the people of America.

“I get this is supposed to be a cute little joke but it comes off as really insensitive. The upcoming election is really important and everyone should vote and for you to try and take that and turn it into an ad for your movie is low,” a user wrote on the actor’s post.

“File Chris Pratt’s latest Instagram post as ‘Things You Can’t Believe Are Real, But Absolutely Are,’” another netizen wrote on Twitter.

“Chris Pratt acting like a nut job isn’t shocking. It’s 2020, nothing will shock me at this point,” another user tweeted.

“This is in extremely poor taste. I am so disappointed in you,” one person wrote on Instagram.

Others, however, found the “Guardians Of The Galaxy” actor's post hilarious and said they badly needed this type of lighthearted post.

“This is the best thing I’ve seen on the internet in probably all of 2020. Thank you!” a user wrote on Instagram.

“You got my vote!! Finally some funny light-heartedness. Thanks, @prattprattpratt,” another netizen wrote on the image-sharing platform.

“I wanted to say thank you for posting something positive. Its just been post after post about so much negativity, it’s nice to see people out there still posting other things,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Voted 100 times. That’s legal, right?” another tweeted.

This is not the first time that Pratt has been involved in a controversy. In 2019, the actor was blasted for wearing a T-shirt that allegedly had ties to far-right political groups.
