Meet Pearl the dog! Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to introduce the latest addition to her family, her new puppy named Pearl.
Teigen and her husband John Legend shared a series of photos and a video of their new puppy, a basset hound. "Pearl has touched down into the legend/teigen/stephens household!" the 35-year-old model wrote in the caption. "We love this little girl so much already but I will admit, she has definitely taken to John first!!"
Teigen further spoke about the bond between the puppy and another three-legged dog, Penny.
"Penny is obsessed with her so it's been fun watching the adventures of penny and pearl unfold," she added. "I grew up with Basset Hounds so I can't wait for John to see this bouncy, no-bones, jello mold of skin grow into the stubborn logs of love I love so much. Excited for this new little heart to add love to our home. Swipe for ear magic!"
Pearl was introduced to the family weeks after their 10-year-old dog, Pippa, died.
"Pippa - we hope you love her name. A tribute to you! You were always an iconic, different lady when your pearls were on. I’ll never forget when they shattered in front of you and you sunk into a funk for weeks until we got you a new one lol," Teigen wrote.
The model informed her 35 million followers about Pippa's death by sharing a photo of the dog on July 16.
She wrote in the caption, "Our beautiful little pippa just died in my arms, not long ago. She was a sassy broad - loved her pearl necklace and never took sh-t from ANY new dog we brought in."
It seems like the late dog had some influence on the new pet's naming.
Teigen lent her voice to the comedy sci-fi animated movie "The Mitchells vs. the Machines," which was released on April 30. Legend will be seen as a judge on "The Voice" Season 21, which is all set to premiere on Sept. 20.
