Christina Perri Expecting Baby Girl After 2020 Pregnancy Loss: 'We're Very Excited' [Video]
Christina Perri is happily pregnant with a baby girl. The 35-year-old "A Thousand Years" singer shared the good news through a short clip uploaded on her Instagram page Monday.
"Rosie sent carmella a little sister and we're very excited. we've been having all the feelings, but mostly trying every day to choose joy," she wrote.
In the emotional clip, Perri's 4-year-old daughter Carmella can be seen opening a pastel-colored box on the front porch. The little girl pulls out sonogram photos with a smile on her face. Perri tells her daughter, "It's in my belly." Perri's husband, Paul Costabile, then touches the "Jar of Hearts" singer's belly as Carmella plants a kiss on her mother's stomach.
The pregnancy news came less than two years after Rosie, the child whom Perri was carrying in 2020, was "born silent" when Perri was hospitalized for pregnancy complications.
"Last night we lost our baby girl," Perri wrote on social media at the time, alongside a heartbreaking photo of herself and her husband holding their daughter's hand. "She was born silent after fighting so hard to make it to our world. she is at peace now and will live forever in our hearts."
Prior to this, Perri announced she had suffered a miscarriage in January 2020 when she was 11 weeks into her pregnancy.
The "Songs for Carmella: Lullabies" singer said she shared the news to "help change the story and stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame." She added she was "so sad, but not ashamed."
Perri released a lullaby album, titled "Songs for Rosie," last November to mark the first death anniversary of Rosie. The album contains covers of classic songs, including "Here Comes the Sun" and a duet with Carmella.
"I know I'm her mom and a little bit biased, but she is a gifted singer," Perri told People at the time. "She's singing in key, and she memorizes lyrics. She knows every word to every Taylor Swift song. She's obsessed with the Cinderella soundtrack and sings every word to that. The new Cinderella movie with Camila Cabello. So she's definitely a singer. Whether she grows up to be one, is up to her."
