Get ready for the Saturday night premiere of Hallmark Channel’s new Countdown to Christmas 2019 movie, “Christmas Under the Stars,” starring Jesse Metcalfe and Autumn Reeser.

This new flick finds the “Chesapeake Shores” star and “The O.C.” alum teaming up for their second Hallmark movie together but their first with a Christmas theme.

“When Nick (Metcalfe), a career-focused investment banker, is fired from his firm at Christmastime, he winds up taking a job at a Christmas tree lot owned by warmhearted widower Clem (Clarke Peters) who is struggling to save his business from being shut down,” the synopsis shares. “There, Nick meets Julie (Reeser), an astronomy teacher who’s always looked to the stars for hope, and learns she’s being harassed by a heartless financial institution. Before long, as the holiday spirit washes over him, the once self-centered Nick discovers the joy of helping others and finds himself in a blossoming romance with Julie.”

The synopsis continues: “But as Nick strives to solve Julie’s financial woes, a shocked Julie discovers he once represented the greedy corporation currently pressuring her. After parting ways with Nick and leaving him crushed, Julie arranges a special stargazing event for her students. With Christmas approaching, Nick receives a job offer, requiring him to begin working immediately and miss spending the holiday at the tree lot. Now Nick wonders if there’s a way he can take the job while helping the tree lot’s owner and Julie through their troubles. He also wonders if he can rekindle his romance with Julie in time for them all to share a Christmas under the stars.”

Based on the novel “The Christmas Tree Lot” by Rikk Dunlap, “Christmas Under the Stars” was directed by Allan Harmon and written by Jamie Pachino.

The Hallmark movie’s cast also includes Anthony Bolognese (Matt Gibbons), Yoshié Bancroft (Kate), Matthew Clarke (Dave Voss), Zoriah Wong (Mia Knowles), Michael Kopsa (Sydney Bellwith), Ken Camroux-Taylor (George Eckland), Chad Riley (Reg), Jocelyn Gauthier (Emily Kane), Kharytia Bilash (Vivian), Moneca Delain (Rae Knowles) and Samantha Ferris (Ellen Wardstone).

This isn’t the first time Metcalfe and Reeser have worked together. The two previously starred in Hallmark’s popular 2015 flick, “A Country Wedding.” Despite its continued popularity, though, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about possibly getting a sequel movie.

During the Hallmark-sponsored Christmas Con 2019 event in New Jersey this past weekend, a fan asked Metcalfe, during his panel, about the likelihood of getting a Christmas sequel to “A Country Wedding,” and he revealed the chances are very slim.

“Well, considering I have a Christmas movie coming out with Autumn Reeser [on] Saturday, I’d say it’s probably pretty unlikely,” he said. “I think we’re just gonna have to let ‘A Country Wedding’ exist as one of the best Hallmark movies of all time. And we’re not gonna be doing a sequel, because you know what happens when you do a sequel? It ruins everything. So, let’s just cherish this movie, and move on.”

And move on fans shall since they’ll be getting an all-new movie from the duo when “Christmas Under the Stars” premieres on Hallmark Channel on Saturday at 8 p.m. EST.
