Chuck Norris Refutes Claims He Was At Capitol Riots: 'It's A Wannabe Lookalike'
KEY POINTS
- Chuck Norris shut down claims that he was a part of the Capitol Hill riots and said he was in Texas with his family
- Norris also condemned the violence at the Capitol, saying there is no room for it in a democracy
- Five people died and hundreds were left injured by the riots on Jan. 6
Chuck Norris has made it clear that he was not present at the devastating Capitol Hill riots on Jan. 6 after a photo went viral on social media of a look-alike of the actor posing with one of the rioters who stormed the Senate building.
Norris’ rep, Eric Kritzer, issued a statement on the matter and clarified that the 80-year-old actor was never a part of the riot because he has been spending time with his family in Texas, People first reported. The rep emphasized that the man in the photo is only a “wannabe look-alike.”
“This is not Chuck Norris and is a wannabe look-alike although Chuck is much more handsome. Chuck remains on his range in Texas where he has been with his family,” Kritzer stated.
Norris also set the record straight through his official Twitter account, saying that he wasn’t a part of the riots and doesn’t support the violence that occurred on the streets of Washington, D.C.
“I recently learned there was a Chuck Norris lookalike at the DC Capitol riots. It wasn’t me and I wasn’t there. There is no room for the violence of any kind in our society. I am and always will be for Law and Order. Your friend, Chuck Norris,” he tweeted.
The confusion started when a “Trump supporter” named Matthew Bledsoe uploaded a photo on his Instagram showing him posing with a person who looks like the action star seemingly before the riots began, according to People. “Chuck Norris,” Bledsoe wrote alongside the snap.
Norris is a longtime Republican and publicly endorsed Donald Trump in 2016. However, he did not endorse any candidate in the 2020 presidential election.
The actor remains one of the greatest action stars of all time and starred in many hit movies in his younger days. Norris, who is also touted as a martial arts legend, has been a part of projects like “An Eye For An Eye,” “Code of Silence,” “Lone Wolf McQuade,” “The Way of the Dragon” and “The Expendables.”
Meanwhile, more than 50 Capitol police officers suffered injuries while stopping the rioters from inflicting violence last week. The five people who died during the Capitol invasion included one officer who collapsed while fending off rioters.
