Ciara-Russell Wilson Update: Singer Praises Seattle Seahawks Quarterback For Remaining Celibate Before Marriage
“I Bet” singer Ciara gave her husband, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, credit for remaining celibate during their engagement. The two made a promise to remain abstinent until they got married. Now, more than six months after their fairy tale wedding, Ciara is pregnant with their child.
“I have to give credit to my husband for sharing those views. It's awesome how it all worked out,” Ciara, 31, told Cosmopolitan South Africa’s February 2017 issue Tuesday. “We women think with our hearts and with our minds. When we see a guy, we envision what he's like and whether this could be something special. Guys see us from an exterior point of view — that's something I learned along the way as a woman.… You shouldn't feel like you have to give your body away to get someone to like you.”
What made Ciara’s relationship successful with Wilson, 28, was their friendship. “I really believe that when you focus on a friendship, you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a relationship — and once you know you're really great friends and you're what we call 'equally yoked,' where you share the same values or the same outlook on life, it kind of sets the tone,” the “Goodies” crooner explained. “Knowing that you'll always have the friendship and that you can always go back to it is very important, and very powerful.”
The waiting apparently paid off. Ciara announced she was pregnant on her birthday, Oct. 25 “I'm feeling great, I've finally gotten to a place where I feel almost normal,” she told E! Online at the American Music Awards in November. “It was a bit of, I don't want to throw up but I don't feel regular, for a while. That's almost worse, you'd rather just throw up and get it done! But I'm feeling good and I'm happy to be here tonight.” Ciara added: “You've gotta push through it and be strong.”
The couple married July at a London castle. Ciara has 2-year-old son, Future Zahir, with ex-fiancé Future. This is Wilson’s first baby.
