Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart Split: 'Their Relationship Is Always Up And Down,' Source Claims

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have reportedly called it quits.

After three years of dating, the “Riverdale” couple have officially broken up, as per People and Page Six sources. Rumors of the couple’s split have already been surfacing since last summer, with claims that the twosome have frequently been on and off.

But this time, inside sources from the aforementioned references have confirmed that the couple are currently no longer together.

According to People, the split came after Sprouse, 27, took to his Instagram story to post an open letter to his followers in April.

It was unclear who or what exactly the actor was referring to, but his letter stated that he would not “tolerate” negative comments lashed out against him. Sprouse put forward the letter amid speculations about his relationship with Reinhart on social media, along with some alleged cheating rumors pertaining to the actor.

"When I first stepped into a public relationship this was one of the foreseeable consequences," Sprouse penned. "And while I truly never intended to indulge any part of my private life to the ravenous horde, it's clear my restraint in updating them has allowed them to push their own agenda onto my habits and lifestyle. So in conclusion — please eat my delectable plump a—."

Meanwhile, Reinhart, 23, also slammed “toxic” social media users and allegations around the same time Sprouse dropped his open letter.

“Suite Life of Zack & Cody” actor Sprouse and “Hustler” actress Reinhart — both playing Jughead and Betty on CW’s “Riverdale” and also affectionately named “Bughead” by fans — have long been bombarded with numerous breakup rumors over the past year, with such rumors being strongly denied by the pair.

With hearsays claiming that the dynamic duo have gone caput, Sprouse and Reinhart were quick to oppose said gossip upon the release of their W Magazine cover story. The "Hustler" actress also told fans to disregard everything they read on the Internet via a Twitter post.

“News sources should try a little harder to be less vile. ‘Reliable sources’ can kiss my a--,” Reinhart wrote on her tweet.

Similarly, the 23-year-old blonde beauty also referred to Sprouse as her “boyfriend,” emphasizing that both of them are still dating during an interview with Coveteur in September.

On another note, another slew of rumors started to develop in April, such as Sprouse being linked with model-actress Kaia Gerber. The Disney star reportedly denied these claims and clapped back at the “baseless accusations,” E! News reported.

During that time, an E! News source reported that he and Reinhart were social distancing separately but “were still together.”

"Their relationship is always up and down," the E! News insider said at the time, "but they do talk every day and care very much about one another."

On the contrary, a Page Six source has revealed that both stars have already split even before the pandemic hit and have also been quarantining separately. “They remain good friends,” the source said.

Sprouse and Reinhart have yet to confirm and comment on the report.
