Colin Kaepernick Net Worth: Endorsements Keep Cap Afloat Despite No NFL
Colin Kaepernick has not played in the NFL for the last two years. Fortunately, he is blessed with endorsements that could likely keep him set for life even without his player salary.
Celebrity Net Worth reports that Kaepernick’s net worth is around $29 million. In his five years playing in the NFL, he received around $43 million in salary (minus tax and fees).
Kaepernick may not play as a quarterback in the NFL again due to his stance against racial injustice and police brutality which snowballed into bigger issues against the league. It affected his career and he even claims that the team owners are conspiring against him.
Despite all these issues on and off the field, no one can deny his talent that was instrumental in the San Francisco 49ers' run to the Super Bowl XLVII. The team fell short against the Baltimore Ravens but their QB made his mark. Some pundits even claimed that the former NFL star was on his way to Hall of Fame status. The following year, the team made it to the NFC Championship but lost to the Seattle Seahawks.
Because of his potential, endorsement deals soon came knocking on his door, and it looks like Nike benefitted the most. After announcing his signing for an ad, the stock of the shoe company rose by as much as 18 percent, which translated to $26.2 billion, per Yahoo. The ad “Dream Crazy” even went on to win an Emmy for creativity.
It's not revealed how much Nike is paying the suspended QB for the ad but experts claim it could be around $5 million to $10 million, the same salary Serena Williams and Odell Beckham Jr. is receiving from Nike. The three appeared in the same ad.
Aside from Nike, the former Super Bowl finalist has deals with Beats By Dre headphones, McDonald’s, Jaguar, Electronic Arts and MusclePharm. According to Fan Buzz, Kaepernick used to earn around $3 million annually from partnerships with brands.
The 32-year-old former 49er is also known for helping charities. He regularly helps 37 different justice-fighting organizations.
No matter the outcome of his lawsuit against the NFL, Kaepernick is in good hands and will be a winner in the eyes of his fans on and off the field.
