A 47-year-old commuter was jailed Thursday after he was caught red-handed, indulging in a sex act with a female passenger on a busy railway station in Manchester, England. William Batchelor was arrested after he received oral sex in public.

A policewoman attempted to intervene and requested that they stop, Daily Mail reported, adding that they ignored the officer. The duo also accused the policewoman of "abusing her power." However, they were later detained after police back up arrived at the scene.

According to reports, Batchelor and his female partner were both drunk at the time of the incident. They got into the lewd act as they were waiting to catch a train on Nov. 27 last year. Batchelor, from Lees, near Oldham was jailed for 15 weeks after pleading guilty to outraging public decency, the Daily Mail reported. His partner is reportedly on the run after failing to attend an earlier hearing.

"An officer saw him and a female by a memorial, and at the time she was grabbing his penis, so she began to walk towards them to warn them about the acts as there were people and children around," prosecutor Robin Lynch said describing the incident. "Before she reached them, the woman bent down and began to perform oral sex on the defendant."

"The officer shouted at them to stop and they became verbally abusive to her, and said she was lying in what she saw. They said she was abusing her power, so the officer stayed with them until they were arrested," Lynch said.

Defending lawyer Richard Goddall said: "He has pleaded guilty. He committed an act of a sexual nature in a public place... He has nothing of a similar nature in his convictions. He accepts in full his part in this."

"He is a single man living alone and has not worked for some time, he is using universal credit. He forgot about the previous court date and apologises for this," Goddall added.

District Judge John Temperley told Batchelor during the court hearing: "You committed an act of outraging public indecency when there were members of the public going about their daily business... You and the co-accused were committing a serious sexual offence in full public view and didn't respond when told to stop. You then became verbally abusive to the officer, and both of you were in drunk which is a aggravating feature. Custody is inevitable for this offence."

In October last year, a University of Michigan gymnastics coach was arrested after he was caught having sex with a gymnast in a car. He was booked on the charge of an indecent or obscene act in public. In another incident in July, a couple allegedly was caught having sex in a courthouse stairwell and were charged with obscenity. The incident took place at the Rapides Parish Courthouse in Alexandria, Louisiana.
