CONFIRMED: Rick Fox Not In The Kobe Bryant’s Helicopter That Crashed

KEY POINTS
- Rick Fox was part of the Lakers’ three straight championships, his only title runs
- Fox played with Kobe Bryant during his seven-season tenure with the Lakers
- His stepdaughter Jillian, and a couple more reporters say that the death reports aren’t true
Following the death of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, another former Los Angeles Laker has been dragged to be inside the helicopter that crashed with Bryant.
That news is not true.
Rick Fox’s stepdaughter Jillian posted a story on her social media that the former Lakers small forward isn’t one of the casualties of the tragic accident that killed Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, this morning. On a Twitter post by a Twitter user, she said that the 50-year old Fox is alive and safe.

On her Instagram account @lionbabe, she posted a photo of his stepfather and the fallen Lakers star urging people not to spread fake news about her dad as one of the casualties of Kobe’s helicopter, saying that he is alive. She also expressed her family’s grief about the accident that shook not just the world of sports, but also the entire world.
WEEI 93.7FM host Courtney Fallon supported the claim that Fox is indeed alive, citing the daughter as the source.
Can confirm former @lakers star Rick Fox WAS NOT among the passengers on the helicopter with Kobe Bryant. Source: his daughter.

NBATV Reporter Jared Greenberg also tweeted that he personally communicated with the former Lakers star via SMS, which is an indication that the three-time NBA champion is still alive. He also encouraged everybody to stop spreading lies about the death of the former Lakers star.
I have personally communicated with Rick Fox via text since the news about Kobe dying came out PLEASE STOP spreading “news” unless you personally can confirm it!

It was earlier reported by ESPN and ABC that Fox, who played seven seasons in Los Angeles, was inside the helicopter per Heavy.com reports but is now debunked with legit sources.
Fox was part of the three-peat that Los Angeles have won together with Kobe from 1999-2002 with him as the starting forward in the last two years. He’s played 13 seasons in the league, playing his first six seasons with Celtics great Larry Bird but has found success playing alongside Kobe Bryant until his retirement after the 2002-2004 season.
