Connecticut Infant Missing After Police Find Mother Deceased At Residence
Police at this time are on the lookout for a 1-year-old toddler who was reported missing from her home where a woman was found dead on Monday in Connecticut.
The child, Vanessa Morales, was last seen by family members on Friday and is suspected to be in danger.
She was nowhere to be seen when police responded to a disturbance call at the home in Ansonia. Someone had called in requesting a welfare check on Monday, but no one answered at home at first.
The Ansonia police department revealed it was the second visit they had given to the home.
The authorities first arrived at 1 p.m. when the first welfare check was requested because Vanessa’s other failed to report at work, and she did not call in sick or tell anyone at work why she would not be available that day.
No one answered the phone at the house, as well, when she was called. The police came to the residence, but no one answered the door, so they left.
Come the evening, family members became concerned, and that’s when a second welfare check was requested. When the police came back at 7.30 p.m., there was some evidence of forced entry to the house.
Vanessa’s mother was found dead on the property while the baby was gone without a trace.
The toddler is described as having brown hair and eyes. She stands at 2’2” tall and weighs 17 pounds.
Her father, who does not live with the two, is currently cooperating with the police. Though, a suspect has not yet been named by the authorities concerning the investigation.
The police department in Ansonia is working in tandem with the state and the federal authorities, but they do not have a lot to go on for the time being.
It is also not known what Vanessa was wearing or where she might have gone.
Ansonia police lieutenant, Patrick Lynch claimed it is essential based on the situation, that if anyone knows something about what happened, they include them in the investigations.
It is because they do not have any new information on the whereabouts of the infant.
Police chief Andrew Cota told media outlets they were dealing with a two-part investigation.
The first part is the homicide of the other. Chief Andrew stated the authorities had enlarged all the resources to investigate the case. The main focus at this time is finding the child.
