Convicted Murderer Attacks Florida Deputies While They Try To Rescue 3 Hostages

A convicted murderer, recently released from prison, was arrested for attacking cops with a hatchet while they attempted to rescue three people trapped inside his home.
Officers from Wauchula and Bowling Green in Florida were called to a home in Wauchula Hills on Sunday following news of a possible hostage situation. When the officers approached the home of 61-year-old Mitchell Albritton, he told them that he was armed and tried to shut the door, WESH reported.
But, deputies forced the door open and Albritton allegedly attacked them with a hatchet. He injured two of the officers while the others managed to arrest him.
The injured deputies were immediately rushed to a hospital and were released after treatment, the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office said.
After taking Albritton into custody, cops found three people trapped inside the house. They were all covered in blood.
One of the hostages told the police that they were afraid to leave. Albritton allegedly threatened them with the hatchet every time they tried to move.
All the victims were taken to a medical facility.
Albritton has been charged with eight counts including attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, attempted second-degree murder, battery and false imprisonment.
According to the police, Albritton, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 1997 for murder was released from jail on Aug. 13. He was on active conditional release supervision at the time of the incident. He was previously imprisoned for false imprisonment, shooting into a dwelling, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm or ammunition, WFTS-TV reported.
In September, a woman was charged in connection to the murder of a man and the torture of his female partner at a home in Indiana. The suspect met the couple on a dating app and invited them to her house. The woman's boyfriend came home and became enraged after witnessing the three engaged in sexual activity. The boyfriend then killed the male victim and sexually tortured the female victim for hours. He was later shot dead by the cops.
