A South Dakota woman was pleasantly surprised when she saw a man, dressed up in a police uniform, standing at her front door with her Arby's order in hand.

Anastasia Elsinger, 24, saw the unexpected sight after ordering some food Tuesday through her DoorDash app, according to CBS4 Indy. She thought her delivery would be late when the app showed the driver stopping a few blocks away from her Sioux Falls home. When she stepped outside the house, she saw police lights and wondered whether her driver had been pulled over by cops.

"I stepped outside and I saw the lights and everything," Elsinger told Argus Leader. "So I was like, 'Oh yes, my food's gonna take a while, whatever.'"

She eventually went back inside the house and thought her food wouldn’t be delivered. However, she later answered the door to find Officer Sam Buhr at her doorstep with a bag of Arby's and a drink.

“I know I’m not who you’re expecting, but your driver got arrested. So I figured I’d complete the DoorDash,” the officer said in the Ring camera footage that has now gone viral on TikTok.

The officer handed over Elsinger’s order with a big smile and said the driver had been arrested for warrants he "didn’t take care of.”

"I definitely did not expect to have a cop show up at my door," Elsinger told Argus Leader. "He just said, like, 'I know, I'm not who you're expecting but your DoorDash driver got arrested for some things they didn't take care of.'"

The viral video of the brief encounter gained more than 10 million views and 4 million likes on TikTok. Tea Storm Chasers — which describes itself as a non-profit news outlet that chases storms and police scanner calls — also shared the video on Facebook.

Police spokesman Sam Clemens mentioned the incident in a police briefing Wednesday and clarified that the Buhr, a Sioux Falls police officer, was not making DoorDash deliveries on the side.

"We had a report of an officer who was moonlighting as a DoorDash employee while on duty," Clemens said and explained that the original DoorDash driver was arrested on the way to Elsinger’s house.

“This isn't normal by any stretch, but the little things like this going above and beyond helping people out — that's the things that we do," Clemens added.
