Cosmopolitan ‘America’s First Family’ Cover Backlash: Ebony Magazine, Twitter Users Slam Kardashian-Jenner Issue

Cosmopolitan magazine unveiled its 50th anniversary cover Sunday night, featuring Kim Kardashian and her famous family -- Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall, Kylie and Kris Jenner -- posing in matching all-white outfits. The publication boasted on the cover that it dedicated 16 pages to the reality TV stars, dubbing them "America's First Family."
Almost immediately social media users lashed out, accusing the magazine of dissing the real first family -- President Barack Obama; his wife, Michelle; and their daughters, Sasha and Malia. Check out a few tweets below:
We're in big trouble as a society when @Cosmopolitan names the Kardashian's as "America's First Family" pic.twitter.com/BPfhTmmF7Z

@Cosmopolitan really called the Kardashians America's First Family. They haven't learned after their "beauty trends that must die" fiasco _

If the Kardashian clan is America's first family, we are doomed.

is insulting to say they're "America's First Family." Great lesson to teach any impressionable reader that picks up your magazine #GetAClue

Ebony magazine also seemingly slammed Cosmopolitan in a subtle tweet that read: "We love our First Family," alongside a photo of the president and his family.

So far, Cosmopolitan has not responded to the backlash. According to Just Jared, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" executive producer Ryan Seacrest wrote the forward in the magazine and gushed about the Kardashians and Jenners being such an inspiration to everyone.
"No one could have predicted the Kardashians' and Jenners' success. But when you spend time with them, what resonates is the family unit," Seacrest wrote. "There are so many things about them that are glamorous, crazy and unlike our lives, but the sense of family is universal. They love and stand by one another no matter what... I, for one, thank them for sharing the journey, because more often than not, it’s not only entertaining, it’s inspiring."
