Could This Be The Cheapest Electric Car In The World? It Comes In A Box
What could possibly be the world’s cheapest electric vehicle is being sold right on Alibaba and can be purchased for a fraction of what a Tesla, Mach-E, or Hummer EV costs.
With a price tag that says $900, the Changli EV can be delivered, in a box, directly to a buyer’s doorstep. With shipping and delivery, the electric car’s price tag could reach about $3,000, which still puts the vehicle at a significant price deficit compared to other EVs, Jalopnik reported.
While the Changli may not have all the bells and whistles, or size, that rival EVs have, the compact car has a battery assembly that boasts about 1.1 horsepower. It has a maximum speed of 34 kph (21.12 mph), powered by a 60V/1200W lead-acid battery pack. It can also climb 30-degree inclines.
Features of the coupe model electric car include a left-side steering wheel, drum brakes, independent suspension, and rear-wheel drive. Weight of the car is 323 kg (712 pounds) and load capacity is 300 kg (661 pounds). It can drive 40 to 100 km (25 to 62 miles) on a single battery charge with a charge time of seven to 10 hours. It also comes with a one-year warranty.
The Changli has a 15-day production turnaround from China and is marketing the car as a leisure, commuting or child pickup vehicle.
It also appears the coupe model EV comes in a customizable livery color complete with decals.
