Over the years, people have been known to name their children based on things they love or that have inspired them. Even many celebrities have given their children some unique names that stemmed from places they like or their beliefs in life. But, for one couple, it was their situation that made them give a unique name to their newborn son born on Dec. 2.

Nimbu Bai and Balam Ram, a Pakistani couple who are residents of Rajanpur district of Punjab province, named their baby boy "Border" because he was born at the Indo-Pak border, India Today reported.

The couple has been stranded at the Attari border between India and Pakistan for the last 71 days along with 97 other Pakistani citizens.

When Nimbu Bai went into labor, several women from the neighboring villages in Punjab arrived at the border to help her deliver the baby safely. Alongside, locals also arranged for medical facilities for the mother and the newborn, added Times Now.

Balam Ram revealed that he came to India on a pilgrimage along with approximately 97 other citizens, but was unable to go back to their country due to the lack of required documents, because of which Pakistani rangers refused to let them through. Of the stranded people, about 47 are children. Six of them were born in India and are below the age of one.

The families stuck at the border are currently camping out at a parking lot. They are surviving with the locals who have been providing them with three meals a day along with other basic necessities like medicines and clothes.

Apart from Balam Ram, another Pakistani citizen, Lagya Ram, who was also living in the same tent, named his son Bharat, which translates to India. Lagya Ram's son was born in Jodhpur, in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, in 2020. Lagya came to meet his brother in Jodhpur but could not cross over to Pakistan, India Today reported.
