A passenger died in a Carnival Cruise ship after falling four stories on the ship during a recent cruise.

According to cruise news, the incident happened when the Carnival Horizon was returning to Port Miami on Friday night.

The victim was reportedly putting up on the ninth floor of the large sea vessel. News reports that compiled accounts of the incident from a family that witnessed the accident said, the passenger fell from the ninth floor to the fifth.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed yet.

“We were looking over the balcony, and we’re seeing the section of the fifth floor is all blocked off,” said Cyndi Knox, another passenger whose family from Cape Coral had been on the same ship.

Knox said there was panic and commotion when the man fell, as other passengers who converged on the scene blocked the view of others in higher decks. There was anxiety to know what was happening on the fifth floor.

According to reports, the crew tried to arrange a trauma helicopter to airlift the victim. But he died before the arrangement was available.

Carnival said it is working with the passenger’s family and cooperating with the investigation by Miami police, per CBS News in Miami.

The Carnival Horizon has returned to Miami after a week-long cruise to Jamaica, Mexico, and the Caymans Islands.
