The CW’s ‘Black Lightning’ Season 2 Premiere: How Did Last Season End?
The Pierce Family will continue to fight for their lives and their city when The CW’s “Black Lightning” airs its Season 2 premiere on Tuesday.
Before the new episode airs, though, let’s recap where the show left off at the end of the Season 1 finale. Titled “Shadow of Death: The Book of War,” Jefferson (Cress Williams) and his family had to work together to defeat Proctor’s (Gregg Henry) ASA attack at Gambi’s (James Remar) safe house. Despite initially wanting to reject her powers, Jennifer (China Anne McClain) used them to supercharge her dad, which not only revived his abilities but made them a bit stronger, as well.
While everyone else stayed inside the house, Jefferson and Anissa (Nafessa Williams) took down the enemies waiting for them outside. The father-daughter duo was able to defeat them all, while Jennifer ended up using her powers to stop one of the combatants who had made it into the safe house. The Pierces were able to escape with Gambi via a secret pathway, and they made their way to Proctor’s new pod lab.
Since Jefferson and his family aren’t murderers, they didn’t have what it took to kill Proctor before he could keep hunting them and other metahumans down. Gambi had no problem with doing just that, though. He shot and killed him, which allowed them to save all of the people inside the pods. The Season 1 finale ended with news stations covering the government experiment and Tobias (Marvin Jones III) opening the briefcase he’d taken from Proctor earlier in the episode. “Black Lightning” fans didn’t get a chance to see what was inside, but whatever it was, it was enough to bring a confident smile to Tobias’ face.
In Tuesday’s Season 2 premiere, titled “The Book of Consequences: Chapter One: Rise of the Green Light Babies,” Jefferson and the rest of the Pierce family will work to put their lives and the city back together.
“Concerned for the safety of Garfield’s students, the board considers a motion to shut down the school, forcing Jefferson to go to Napier Frank (guest star Robert Townsend) to sway the vote,” the synopsis shares. “Jennifer struggles with her powers and her actions have unforeseen repercussions. Meanwhile, Anissa finds a new way to give back to Freeland. Lastly, Lynn (Christine Adams) continues her quest much to the dismay of Agent Odell (guest star Bill Duke).”
“Black Lightning” Season 2 premieres on The CW on Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT.
