‘Cyberpunk 2077’ News: Meryl Streep May Join Keanu Reeves As New Character
“Cyberpunk 2077” already stars Keanu Reeves in the game, but if the devs are to be believed, it seems that multiple award-winner Meryl Streep might join in too.
Over the years, some famous celebrities make their way into video games and become part of a gamer’s life for a period of time. Popular names like Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, Kevin Spacey and even Bruce Lee have each appeared in video games before, adding a list of titles to their resumés.
Unlike most celebrities who have entered the world of video games, however, Keanu Reeves has appeared in a game more than once. He reprised his role as Neo in “The Matrix: Path of Neo,” joined “Fortnite” to promote “John Wick 3,” and is also set to appear in the upcoming “John Wick Hex.”
Indeed, the news of Keanu Reeves joining “Cyberpunk 2077” as Johnny Silverhand caused a lot of fans to go nuts (with someone yelling “you’re breathtaking” to him at E3). If CD Projekt RED’s Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz will have his way, however, fans will also get the chance to scream for joy at the shouting meme queen, Meryl Streep.
In an interview with GAME, Tomaszkiewicz was asked if he wanted to add another star to the game, and if he could, who it would be. The “Cyberpunk 2077” quest director, after thinking for a moment, simply admitted that he wanted the actress who played Miranda Priestly years ago.
“…this is difficult,” Tomaszkiewiczsaid. “Ah, there’s so many great actors I love… Like, I love Meryl Streep, for example. I love Devil Wears Prada, and it would be great to have her as one of the characters in the game.”
Tomaszkiewicz was also asked what kind of role Streep would be given if she was in the game. He simply said “She could be totally one of the big corporate characters in the game. I can picture this.”
Will she be in the game?
While it’s nice to imagine Streep playing that kind of role in the game, it’s also unlikely that this won’t happen. She has never starred in any video game, and never even had a cameo. ComicBook noted that it’s likely to stay that way. Nonetheless, like Tomaszkiewicz, fans can still wish that she’d be in the game.
