"Star Wars" actress Daisy Ridley has finally returned to Instagram after taking a break from social media for almost six years, and she's now "trying to remember how to use this app."
The 29-year-old star marked her comeback on the platform with two posts, which she shared Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
The first one was a photo of herself sipping a cup of tea while getting pampered. Her caption read, "Coming out of social media hibernation refreshed, recharged, and ready for what I'm calling my 'Year of Yes', (And that's the tea)."
The official Instagram handle of the "Star Wars" commented on her photo, noting, "Those would make piloting a speeder most difficult." Meanwhile, actor Leslie Odom, Jr. wrote, "Welcome back. Take your breaks when you need em! x."
In her second post, she shared a carousel of pictures of herself, which were all playfully edited using a brush tool to resemble famous artworks, like Johannes Vermeer's "Girl With a Pearl Earring." In the caption, she wrote, "Trying to remember how to use this app. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't have Insta during quarantine, or else I would have posted these. Oh, well, still posting them."
Actor Josh Gad commented on her second post, writing, "The Queen has returned!!!" Actor Joonas Suotamo, on the other hand, simply wrote, "Welcome back!" before adding a red heart emoji.
Fans also welcomed the actress back on Instagram. Many of them even expressed in the comments section of both posts how much they missed seeing updates from the actress.
"OMG!!! This is really happening?! Soo good to have you back Daisy! We missed you!!!" one of them wrote. "Return of the Jedi," another fan commented.
The news then spread like wildfire, and within just two days, the actress was able to gain 87,000 followers.
Ridley deleted her Instagram in 2016 after drawing flak for her post about victims of gun violence. She had more than 2 million followers at the time.
In an interview in 2019, she expressed disinterest in returning to social media, saying, "I honestly think now with social media and stuff, it's great to have freedom of expression, but I do feel like people think opinions have so much weight."
"I don't really think bad vibes should have the sun shone on them. Like, I don't want to read your thing," she added.
Ridley will be next seen in the movies "The Marsh King's Daughter," "Sometimes I Think About Dying," "Young Woman and the Sea" and "Women in the Castle."
