‘Dance Moms’ Cast Accuses Lifetime Of Faking Competition Scores

The cast of “Dance Moms” is sounding off following Tuesday’s premiere of Season 7, episode 24. In the installment, Abby Lee Miller’s ALDC team managed to place first, one spot ahead of their rival team, the newly-founded The Irreplaceables.

Now, post-release, the cast is speaking out about the series and accusing Lifetime of editing the most recent competition’s real results.

Jill Vertes, mom to dancer Kendall Vertes, one was of the cast members who spoke out about the alleged score editing. “Don’t get caught up in fake news!” she tweeted Tuesday. “No one won the high score overall! Not Abby, not us.” Jill went on to retweet one fan’s comment about the episode being a result of “creative editing.”

Kalani Hilliker’s mother, Kira Girard, followed up by writing, “For the record, they didn’t win” alongside a laughing emoji. When asked by fans to clarify her comment, Kira stated that her daughters’ rival team placed in their division but not in the overalls.

When slammed by some viewers who called the “Dance Moms” star jealous and pointed out that her daughter Kalani’s team also didn’t place in the overalls, Kira had this to say. “Nope, but the editors should never make up scoring.”

“I was just pointing out the show always goes on overalls till it doesn’t go their way then they have to edit to make it look that way,” Kira later tweeted.

A quick look at the competition results from episode 24’s competition reveal the moms are correct, however, the episode did not show the overalls portion for the junior and teen groups during the award ceremony.

Attendees of Fierce National Dance Competition in Upland, California, on March 26 report the ALDC’s open group number, “Where Have All The Children Gone,” took first in the junior division and second overall. Meanwhile, The Irreplaceables, as revealed on the show, placed second in their teen division and did not place in the overalls.

This is far from the first time “Dance Moms” have been accused of utilizing creative editing. In a 2015 interview with USA Today, alum Maddie Ziegler admitted that many of the show’s fights are staged.

“It’s hard to do a reality show when there’s so much crying and drama. The producers set it up to make us all yell at each other,” Maddie said. “You know how I said that moms do fight? The moms have to fake a fight sometimes. Afterward they just start talking and laugh about it.”

The series was also found to have left crucial moments from a 2013 blowup involving dance mom Kelly Hyland and Abby Lee Miller on the cutting room floor.
