'Dance Moms' Cast Members Perform Murder-Themed Solos For Season 6 Competition
The “Dance Moms” cast isn’t unfamiliar when it comes to performing spooky and somewhat controversial numbers, and Season 6 is no different. The performers behind the hit Lifetime reality show continued to film the upcoming installment in Los Angeles over the weekend and it appears viewers are in store for a bloody-themed episode in 2016.
The ALDC LA (Abby Lee Dance Company Los Angeles) performed several numbers inspired by famous murderers at New York Dance Experience in San Jose, California, Dec. 19, according to one “Dance” spoiler site. Abby Lee Miller’s elite junior team is said to have competed a contemporary piece titled “The Cult.” A video of the number shows the team sporting flowy, white dresses and flower headbands.
If that wasn’t creepy enough for “Dance Moms” viewers, three of Abby’s soloists also performed horror-themed solos. Maddie Ziegler, who is said to be quitting the show, portrayed acquitted axe murderer Lizzie Borden in a character piece. A video of her performance reveals she used a toy axe onstage and sported fake blood on her neck. Kendall Vertes embodied Natalie Wood, “The West Side Story” film actress who mysteriously died in 1981, for her lyrical number. “Dance Moms” newcomer Brynn Rumfallo performed a contemporary solo inspired by the Black Dahlia.

Luckily for Abby’s girls, their creepy numbers were a big hit at the West Coast event. It has been reported that the elite junior team walked away with first-place overall in the 13-14 age division. Maddie, 13, managed to snag first-place in the same age division for her solo. Kendall, 13, came in second. Brynn, 12, reportedly placed second in the 11-12 solo division.
Abby announced on Instagram Sunday the competition will be the cast’s last before the holiday break.
“Dance Moms” Season 6 premieres on Lifetime Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 9 p.m. EST. Watch the trailer for the new season here.
