‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2017: Which Season 24 Duo Will Be Eliminated In The Semifinals?
It’s just about time for one “Dancing With the Stars” Season 24 team to leave the ballroom with the Mirrorball trophy. Before that happens, one more of the four remaining teams must be eliminated.
In the semifinals, the “DWTS” Season 24 cast will perform two routines. The first will be a judge’s challenge in which they’ll be paired with either Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba or Julianne Hough to perform a routine showcasing a specific skill. Next they’ll dance to a style they’ve yet to try on the ABC competition series.
The Week 9 judge pairing and routines are as follows:
Team Golden Giggles (Sasha Farber and Simone Biles)
For their first routine, Sasha and Simone will be guided by Carrie Ann. They’ll be performing a Jive to “Faith” by Stevie Wonder ft. Ariana Grande. Their second routine of the night will be a Rumba to “Skyscraper” by Demi Lovato.
Team Shad Squad (Emma Slater and Rashad Jennings)
Emma and Rashad have been paired with Bruno. Their first routine will be a Rumba to “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur. For their second dance of the night, they’ll be dancing a Quickstep to “Yes I Can” by Superhumans.
Team Valmani (Val Chmerkovskiy and Normani Kordei)
Val and Normani are paired with Len Goodman, who’s been giving them a hard time since Week 1. Their first routine will be a Viennese Waltz to “Desperado” by Rihanna. For their second, they’ll be performing a Jazz routine to “What A Wonderful World” by Ray Charles.
Team Lady and The Gramp (Lindsay Arnold and David Ross)
Lindsay and David will be paired with Julianne in Week 9. They’ll be performing a Foxtrot to “You Make Me Feel So Young” by Michael Bublé. For their second routine, they’re dancing a Tango to “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran.
At present, Val and Normani are the favorites to win Season 24 of “DWTS.” They’ve got some stiff competition, but have consistently scored higher than their co-stars. The others — more specifically Sasha and Simone and Emma and Rashad — aren’t to be counted out though.
Team Golden Giggles hit a bit of a rough patch in Week 8. Simone was critiqued by judges for lacking real emotion in her first routine of the night. She attempted to bring something other than a smile to the “DWTS”ballroom for her second dance, but they weren’t buying it.
ET Online caught up with her and Sasha after the show to gauge their frustrations after Simone snapped back at the judges during Monday’s show saying, “Smiling doesn’t win you gold medals.” She told the site she was at a loss, but Sasha, on the other hand, planned to turn that frustration into something constructive.
“I just know how hard this girl works,” he told ET. “Each week she comes in and she delivers something different. There’s a lot of expectation on her shoulders, and we’re just gonna go back into the studio and keep digging.”
Will it pay off and keep them in the competition? Check out our Week 9 “DWTS” predictions in the gallery above.
