‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 29 Cast Grows, Jesse Metcalfe Joins AJ McLean, Kaitlyn Bristowe
The celebs hitting the ballroom for Season 29 of “Dancing With the Stars” continues to grow, with the confirmation of three more celebs.
Following the news of Backstreet Boy AJ McLean joining the show, the second celeb who confirmed after “Bachelorette” Kaitlyn Bristowe, US Weekly reports that rumors actress Anne Heche would be joining were correct. In addition to Heche, actor Jesse Metcalfe and former NFL star Vernon Davis are also signed on to the show.
The five are the only celebs who have been reportedly confirmed to be competing, though rumors have also surrounded “Tiger King” star Carole Baskin and “Selling Sunset” and “Days of Our Lives” actress Chrishell Stause, who has been making headlines amid her divorce from “This Is Us” star Justin Hartley. Based on various pro dancers' recent follows on social media, Heather Rae Young from “Selling Sunset” and Monica Aldama from “Cheer” could also be potential candidates.
The show was rumored to have also approached Dr. Anthony Fauci to compete, but he declined.
The only other confirmations for the show come in the form of the lineup of pro dancers and the show’s host. Tyra Banks is taking over after Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were let go, and will also be serving as an executive producer.
15 pros are signed up for the season, though it’s unclear if they are all officially partnered with a celebrity or if some are on standby as potential alternates should anyone need to quarantine or drop out due to COVID-19. Those competing pros are Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater and Britt Stewart. Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson are both sitting the season out due to pregnancies.
The full celebrity cast for Season 29 is expected to be announced on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, Sept. 2. It is unclear if the show will also be revealing which celebs are paired with which pros.
Season 29 of “Dancing With the Stars” begins on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
