Danica Patrick got candid about her split from Aaron Rodgers months after he announced his engagement to Shailene Woodley.

The former race car driver opened up about the things she learned about herself following her romance with the NFL player when she appeared on "Running Wild With Bear Grylls" Monday. Patrick said she is doing well after her separation from Rodgers, but she didn't hide the fact that their split left her "broken open."

"I think we learn the most about ourselves through relationships, but there’s nothing like heartbreak to really throw you in the deep end of that," she was quoted by Us Weekly as saying. "But I’ve learned a lot and as broken open as I was on the sad end, I have felt so much joy in so many more instances and so many more unlikely places than I ever have, so it’s like my heart got broken open to both ends of the spectrum."

Patrick went on to say that she was thankful for her family, who have been her major source of support throughout her career, and that she was "fortunate" to have them.

"[My dad is] always super proud of me," she continued. "My mom too. My sister. I’m really fortunate that I have a family that’s super supportive. You gotta have someone you can fall apart with, you know?"

Patrick previously dated fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for five years before they called it quits in 2017. She was also previously married to Paul Edward Hospenthal from 2006 to 2013.

Patrick is "single at the moment" and "enjoying life," an unnamed source told Us Weekly. However, she also said in her March interview with Tamron Hall that she already knew what qualities she will be looking for in her future partner.

"When you know what you don’t want, you know what you do want," Patrick said. "It’s not as though there are boxes to check, it’s just that I know what I want now and I’m not willing to compromise [or] bend as much."

Meanwhile, Rodgers had already moved on with Woodley. He announced their engagement when he accepted his NFL MVP award in February. The lovers were seen earlier this month packing on PDA when they visited Disney World.
