'The Dark Knight Rises' Casts Pittsburgh Steelers: Report
"The Dark Knight Rises" has beefed up its cast.
Ben Roethlisberger and close to a dozen of his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates will join the "Dark Knight" cast and crew at Heinz Field when filming continues this weekend, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette confirmed on Friday.
Heinz Field is where the Steelers play home games during the NFL season.
"I don't think it will be a big part, it's not like we're chasing Batman down or anything . . . from what I've heard, it's going to be like a pre-game, warming-up type thing . . . I don't know the whole concept. There's a Gotham team, a football game. We'll be wearing uniforms. It will be fun," Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette.
The 29-year-old quarterback will be joined by teammates Hines Ward, Willie Colon and Aaron Smith, among others. Thousands of extras have also been cast to play fans at the game.
The casting news comes on the same day Warner Bros. released the first official image of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. The new photo shows Hathaway riding a motorcycle similar to the one Batman used in "The Dark Knight." Photos of Hathaway's body double were also leaked from the Pittsburgh set on Friday.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is the third and final installment of the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman series. The film stars Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as the villain Bane, while Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman all return to reprise their roles as Alfred, commissioner James Gordon and Lucius Fox, respectively.
"The Dark Knight Rises" lands in theaters July 20, 2012.
