This Day For Democrats: Good News For the White House
- The national unemployment rate dipped below 8 percent in September to 7.8 percent, providing a bit of welcome news for the White House after the president’s almost universally lambasted performance at the first presidential debate on Wednesday.
- President Barack Obama is returning to Virginia on Friday, where he will speak at an event at George Mason University only a week after campaigning in the state with Vice President Joe Biden. In 2008, Obama won the state, the first Democratic presidential candidate to do so since 1964.
Afterward, Obama will fly to Ohio for a rally at Cleveland State University.
- First Lady Michelle Obama said she would cast either Will Smith or Denzel Washington to play her husband in a hypothetical movie about his life, in response to a question from entertainment network PopSugar.
- Liberals in the Senate’s Defending Social Security Caucus, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, are criticizing President Obama for not taking a more forceful position on Social Security during his presidential campaign, the Hill reports.
