Looking for a superfast electric car? Then maybe Daymak's Spiritus Ultimate is the one for you. With an acceleration of 0 to 60 in 1.8 seconds, the Canadian zero-emission mobility provider claims the car will be the fastest three-wheeled EV in the world once it is in the market.
"The Spiritus is a 3 wheel 2 seater electric car which rides like a go-kart and is loaded with technology. This car is for people who want more. Every ride on the Spiritus will be an exciting one," the company said in a press release Tuesday.
Daymak launched a crowdfunding campaign for the vehicle Tuesday. The company is aiming to achieve 50,000 preorders through the campaign, which will continue until July 23. Those who reserve their units during this period can take advantage of the special pricing, which could change once the Spiritus Ultimate arrives in dealerships and showrooms.
The price for the range-topping Spiritus Ultimate starts at $149,000, while a more modest standard trim, called the Spiritus Deluxe, comes at $19,000. They will be part of other light electric vehicle models under Daymak's Avvenire catalog.
"This is very exciting. Daymak has come a long way from when I started in my garage in 2001. The Spiritus is a dream come true," said Daymak president and founder Aldo Baiocchi, adding that those who preorder their units will receive a bonus $100 coupon that can be used for their other products.
Spiritus Ultimate will have a two-seat configuration with a body crafted out of carbon fiber. Owners can choose between six default colors. For a sporty appeal, it features scissor doors similar to some exotic supercars. Still, it will have enough cargo space for two mid-sized suitcases, the company said.
The spec sheet provided by Daymak shows that the passenger and driver will be protected by four airbags. Inside the cockpit, owners will find a combination of high-end materials such as carbon fiber, metals and other textiles.
A total of seven screens are distributed within the interior that runs on in-house developed software. There are four cameras that provide the operator with a 360-degree view of the vehicle. It will also have an autonomous driving feature.
The Spiritus Ultimate touts an all-wheel-drive system powered by an 80 kWh battery to give it an approximate range of up to 300 miles on a single charge. Daymak is planning to start production in 2023.
