'Days Of Our Lives' Spoilers: Marlena And John Hatch An Escape Plan

They've both been locked away in isolation in a mental institution thanks to her doppelganger's plot to be with Roman and get revenge on Andre. But their love for one another and determination to thwart Hattie and her secret partner's plans will propel John and Marlena to work on a secret escape plan on the Wednesday, Aug. 30 episode of "Days of Our Lives."

Hattie (Deidre Hall) worked with Angelica (Morgan Fairchild) to drug Marlena (also Hall) and get her thrown in a mental institution so she could assume her identity and her life. The plot was Hattie's chance to finally get Roman (Josh Charles), whom she has wanted to be with for a long time, and also get revenge on Andre (Thaao Penghlis), who was responsible for her being sent to prison on the NBC soap. The only hiccup in her doing so thus far had been Marlena and John's (Drake Hogestyn) engagement, which she attempted to break off. John became suspicious however and followed her to the institution, where he saw Marlena. Before he could rescue her however, Hattie had him also locked away.

Now, the two of them have been put into separate rooms with straitjackets on, though they've been able to communicate with one another through a vent that connects their separate cells. They still aren't aware of who Hattie has been working with, or why Marlena was targeted the way she was, but they do have a plan to help themselves escape the asylum and get back to Salem, before Hattie can wreak havoc.

As they work on their plan however, others are becoming suspicious of what is going on with the Marlena they're seeing on a daily basis. Her break-up with John, and then attempt to kiss Roman, raised a few red flags, and now, Paul (Christopher Sean) is becoming more suspicious of her. He has been trying to get a hold of John for days to tell him about his engagement to Sonny (Freddie Smith), but his dad hasn't picked up the phone. Now, he has learned that the last person John was seen with was Marlena, and he wants answers from her about where John went. If Hattie can't come up with a convincing enough lie, it could make him begin to look into what's going on as well.

However, one person who seems to have been taken in by Hattie's act is Andre, who went to her as Marlena for some help. His marriage of convenience to Kate (Lauren Koslow) is faltering, and he has been threatened that he will be expelled from his family's company by the board because Kate is working to make sure his reputation remains in tatters. Knowing Marlena's evaluation could give him a glowing review that might help his chances, he went to her for help, and was delighted when she said she would.

However, since the woman he asked for help wasn't actually Marlena, and was in fact Hattie, Andre could be in for some big trouble that lands him in more hot water than he ever imagined.
