He’s been feeling grateful because of how much his life has changed since his own contemplated suicide attempt at Christmas last year. Now, JJ will try to create a similar miracle by saving the life of another on the Friday, Dec. 21 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

When he went to the hospital to see Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), JJ (Casey Moss) noticed new nurse Haley (Thia Megia) seeming very stressed out. Later on the NBC soap, he saw her again, only this time, she was passed out on the floor with an empty bottle of pills in her hand. Now, it will be up to JJ to try and save her life, and when it’s clear this was an attempt to take her own life, he will feel even more compelled to take action because of his own history.

Last Christmas, JJ was ready to kill himself and make his own life come to an end because of Theo’s accidental shooting. At the time, he didn’t know if the young boy was going to survive, and as a result, he wrote notes to his loved ones and was about to shoot himself when Gabi (Camila Banus) came by to see him and bring him a present. When she realized what he was up to, she stopped him and stayed with him the entire night, making sure he didn’t do anything.

Because of that, JJ has been always been grateful to her, and following a call from Theo to check in on him one year later, the young man is more determined than ever to return the favor that Gabi gave him—and he will make sure he does so with the new nurse.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
