Fans of all the drama unfolding in Salem will need to revisit their favorite characters next week, because “Days of Our Lives” is taking a little break for the Thanksgiving holidays.

According to the network’s programming schedule, traditional thanksgiving events will instead take the place of the usual weekday lineup, with morning shows all pre-empted on Thanksgiving Day in honor of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and National Dog Show, which are staple events for the holiday.

While the parade will air between 9 a.m.-12 p.m. EST and then be re-broadcast between 2 p.m.-5 p.m. EST, “Days of Our Lives” is specifically being pre-empted for The National Dog Show, where over 2,000 purebred dogs will vie to be named best in show.

However, Salem is still taking a day off on Friday as well, with changes to the schedule to accommodate NHL Hockey. While an episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is set to air during the usual “Days” slot, the changes were made to accommodate the game between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers.

“Days of Our Lives” will be back on Monday however, and will pick up where the drama left off. Spoilers for the Monday, Nov. 26 episode tease that Eric (Greg Vaughan) makes a decision about Holly (Oakley and Taytum Fisher). Meanwhile, Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) will finally reunite but get a shocking surprise as well.

“Days of Our Lives” will resume on NBC with new episodes on Monday, Nov. 26.
