The bodies of a couple were pulled from a Philadelphia river and a child was found in a nearby car Thursday morning, according to reports. Authorities said the woman's body was found first in the Delaware River near Penn’s Landing, which stretches along the river.

The woman's body was pulled out of water and paramedics declared her dead. During a search of the area, police found a black Nissan SUV with a 5-year-old girl inside. When the police talked to the child, she said she was with her father, but he was not seen nearby.

Local media reports said that the child was transported to a children’s hospital in Philadelphia. After five hours, police found a man’s body in the river. Authorities later identified the man as the husband of the deceased woman and the father of the girl, Fox 29 reported.

Police are investigating the incident and the cause of death is yet to be determined. While police have not confirmed the identities of the deceased, family members identified the woman as 28-year-old Anjania Patterson. The man was identified as Tim Siler.

“I never saw something like that in my life,” Brian Coffield, a local resident, told local media. “Not like that. I feel bad for the child growing up having to know about it, hear about it.”

A neighbor of Siler said that the two deceased were a quiet couple and barely spoke to anyone.

This is a developing story.
