The breakout comedy of Summer 2019 is finally heading back to Netflix for a new batch of episodes. “Dead To Me” Season 2 will officially drop on the streaming platform on May 8.

The series, led by Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, was full of twists and turns during its first outing and will certainly bring more of them in the newest batch as well. Before tuning in to the new episodes, here’s a refresher about what happened during Season 1.

Jen (Applegate) is still grieving after her husband was killed in a hit-and-run, and she is determined to find out who was responsible for ending his life. As she copes, she joins a support group, where she meets polar opposite Judy (Cardellini), who is also dealing with loss following a series of miscarriages that contributed to the end of her relationship with Steve (James Marsden).

The two women begin to forge a bond, but Jen doesn’t know that Judy is hiding a big secret. As it turns out, Judy was the driver of a car that was also in a hit-and-run—and she is the person who ran Jen’s husband down. As Jen continues working to solve the crime and also deal with the different ways the grief is affecting both her and her sons, Judy and Steve are also working to keep her from finding out the truth. However, after a while, it becomes clear that Jen is going to close in on the truth, leading to Judy’s confession. After kicking her new friend out of her guest house, Judy fails to commit suicide—and gets an unexpected call from Jen, who took her husband’s gun and shot Steve after a confrontation in her backyard.

Now, according to a Netflix press release, things will pick up after that reveal—and the two women will be working together to cover up the newest crime.

“Jen and Judy and the lies that entwine them are back. Picking up in the aftermath of that bloody backyard reveal, the irrepressible pair once again struggle to keep their secrets buried,” a synopsis reads. “With a surprising new visitor in town and Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) hot on their heels, Jen and Judy take drastic measures to protect their loved ones and each other—no matter the cost.”

All Season 2 episodes of “Dead To Me” drop on Netflix Friday, May 8. Season 1 is available to stream now.
